How we work

Skoleskyss.no is operated by Ruter. We coordinate, plan and organise passenger transport in the public sector and are responsible for operating school transport services, as well as producing travel cards with school tickets for pupils in the former municipalities of Akershus and Lunner.

School transport services are organised by Ruter
We are responsible organising the actual school transport by minibus or taxi for all pupils travelling to and from school. We plan and coordinate the pickup and transport of more than 4,000 pupils to schools by minibus or taxi in the former municipalities of Akershus and Lunner every day. This requires careful planning since the pupils start and finish school at different times.
In the control room, we monitor all of our vehicles, where they are in real-time, and where they are going. We also communicate with our drivers, users, and the schools, and keep them updated on important information that could affect pickup and drop-off times, changes to schedules, delays, etc.
Our 300 drivers are trained in our Driving Academy and prioritise safety and punctuality. It is important to them and us that, as a parent or guardian, you can be confident that your pupil:
-
-
- has had a positive experience
- has been driven safely
- and that the drivers have expertise and experience in driving pupils with special needs
